Platform Engineering Intern

What you will learn

Learn to build platform components that give engineers reliable, paved paths for shipping software.

You will pair with mentors to ship small IaC modules, improve developer tooling, and automate environments used by real product teams.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to golden-path service templates (scaffolding, CI, and deployment hooks)
  • Help provision cloud resources with Terraform modules under review from senior engineers
  • Improve developer onboarding docs and CLI/tooling quickstarts
  • Assist in maintaining sandbox/preview environments and smoke checks
  • Write small utilities to reduce manual toil for the platform team
Requirements

What makes you a fit

We don’t expect prior professional experience—bring curiosity, a builder mindset, and care for reliability.

  • Comfort with Git and one programming language (e.g., Python, Go, or TypeScript)
  • Basic Linux shell familiarity; knows how to read and edit YAML/JSON configs
  • Understands what CI/CD does and why infra should be defined as code
  • Clear communication, good note-taking, and willingness to ask questions
  • Based in New York City or remote.

Nice to have

  • Experimented with Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or Crossplane
  • Built or used a simple internal CLI/scaffolder (e.g., Cookiecutter, Plop, Yeoman)
  • Docker basics and curiosity about Kubernetes concepts
  • Understands service reliability signals (latency, availability, error budgets)
  • Exposure to developer portals or documentation tooling
