Platform Engineer

About the role

Design, automate, and operate Kubernetes‑based internal platforms that give product teams secure, paved paths to production.

You will own golden‑path templates, infrastructure as code, and platform capabilities that balance speed with guardrails. You’ll work closely with SRE and security to keep platforms observable, compliant, and cost-aware.

Responsibilities

Own Kubernetes platform components, base images, and Terraform modules used across teams
Implement and harden CI/CD pipelines (policy checks, supply-chain security, secrets handling)
Partner with app teams to evolve reusable service templates and deployment strategies
Continuously improve reliability, performance, and developer experience through instrumentation and feedback loops
Guide upgrades and migrations (clusters, ingress, service mesh, databases) with clear runbooks

Requirements

What you’ll need

Deep experience operating Kubernetes (workloads, networking, ingress, autoscaling)
Strong Terraform or similar IaC skills and a bias for codified guardrails
Hands‑on CI/CD expertise (GitHub Actions/GitLab CI/Jenkins) including artifact and secret management
Proficiency in at least one language (Go, Python, or similar) for platform tooling
Solid observability practice: metrics/logs/traces, alert design, and SLO thinking
Based in New York City or remote.

Nice to have

Experience with service mesh, progressive delivery (canary/blue‑green), and traffic shaping
Multi‑region or multi‑cloud design and incident mitigation experience
Security-minded pipelines (SBOMs, image signing, policy enforcement like OPA/Kyverno)
Cost-aware platform patterns (request limits, autoscaling policies, rightsizing playbooks)
Developer portal or internal platform product management exposure
